Joe and Colin are riding their bikes across the country.

They’re really cool dudes.

Hi Colin and Joe – Enjoy your adventure. I know you will be safe, but as a Mom I have to say it out loud – “please be safe.” Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Every bicyclist I know says this is one thing they would really like to do. I’ll see you when you hit the Pacific Ocean.

I’m so glad to see you in the city! Now I’m really excited for you both. Did the bus carry your bikes inside or out? Keep those postings coming. And yes, please, please, please keep safe.

    Hi guys,

Keep up the posts. Congratulations on getting out of Jersey. Watch out for wood ticks. I mean it.

    Yo.

Don’t get too close to the Caterpillars. I was good friends with one once, but it turned out he was actually a double agent working for an army of Wood Ticks – and seriously, watch out for those; Dad means it.

Your journey is much like that of Sir Walter Raleigh’s voyage to Guyana, as you are probably trying your best to please the Queen without knowing that you’re putting empirical evidence exclusively in terms of your white, European bias. I find Raleigh’s words encouraging in “The Discoverie of the Large, Rich, and Bewtiful Empyre of Guiana” [sic] from which now I quote:

“The master of my ship Jo[seph] Douglas tooke one of the Canoas which came loden from thence with [caterpillars] to be sold, and the most of them escaped, yet of those hee brought, there was one as well favored, and as well shaped as ever I saw anie in [Rochester], and afterward I sawe many of them, which but for their tawnie colour may bee compared to anie of [New York].” [sic]

    Do you understand? I don’t.

Justin, I appreciate the anachonistic block quote as much as the next man, but I am mystified.

Joe, Colin: I am very much enjoying these posts, and will be sorry to leave constant internet connectivity in a week to pursue my own tour dreams. I daydream about coming up behind you guys on a deserted road in South Dakota: “on your left, commoners!”

Be safe, stay healthy, and report back. Peace be the journey.
